Myofascial release is a technique that releases restrictions in the body’s fascia. Fascia is the body’s connective tissue which surrounds and encases every muscle, bone, and organ. In it’s healthy state, fascia is pliable, allowing easy movement and range of motion. However, trauma, inflammation, injuries, and surgery can cause restrictions in the fascia which impede movement and restrict motion.
I use the John Barnes method of Myofascial Release, which uses slow, sustained pressure to the fascial system to identify and release restrictions in the connective tissue.
Myofascial release is particularly effective for surgery recovery, athletic injuries, and long-standing muscle tension that does not respond to treatment.
